Reggie is a United States Judo Association Black Belt in the art of Kodokan Judo. He also holds a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He has been training in martial arts for 38 years.
Mastery of these techniques results in self confidence, a healthy outlook on life and inner peace.
Reggie trained in judo with Sensei Larry Rodgers Sr. at Elm City Judo. He trained in Tae Kwon Do with Sensei Larry Rodgers Jr. at Top Ten Karate Studio. In 2000, he started an after school judo program for The Police Athletic League (PAL). Through PAL Judo Club Reggie trained as many as 14 state local and regional champions until the programs end. In 2006, Reggie partnered with Bashta Martial Arts where he founded and chartered the BMA Judo Club. Reggie also holds a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, presented to him by Bashta Martial Arts. In 2012 Reggie opened R.E.S Professional Fitness & Martial Arts LLC. After leaving Bashta Martial Arts in 2014 Reggie opened Pro-Fit Judo Club. Since the opening of Pro -Fit Judo, Reggie has continued to groom successful judo competitors on a State, Regional and National level. Pro-Fit Judo Club is currently the home 11 State of Connecticut Judo Champions. Sensei Reggie is also the current United States Judo Associations 2014 National Masters Champion.
The growing interest in physical fitness among people of the world, coupled with the need for effective self-defense techniques, makes judo one of the best athletic choices for people of all ages. Judo is one of the best forms of physical and mental development through self discipline. An experienced student of judo will be skilled in self defense techniques such as throwing, pinning, strangling and joint lockings.
Professor Jigoro Kano of Tokyo, Japan, developed the modern sport of judo in 1882. Judo originated from jujutsu which consisted mainly of offensive combat techniques. Professor Kano’s judo philosophy was and is “maximum efficiency” and “mutual benefit and welfare”.
Judo Classes are held:
Monday & Wednesday Kid’s class 6 pm, Adult class 7 pm.
Saturday Kid’s class 10 am & Men’s class 11 am.
